We review symptoms/history, then place electronic lab and/or imaging orders or prepare a referral. Many can start by telemedicine across California.

Complete testing

Visit a nearby draw site or imaging center. Results are routed to our clinic and posted to your Patient Portal.

Review & plan

We message you with results, next steps, and follow‑up timing; referrals include recommended in‑network specialists.

Insurance & billing

We accept PPO plans (Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare) and self‑pay; we’ll verify benefits before your visit.
Office visits are billed by Afshar Medical Group.
Labs and imaging are billed by the lab/imaging facility; copays/deductibles may apply per your plan.
Referrals/authorizations – for tests that require prior authorization, we’ll coordinate paperwork and keep you informed.

Do you draw blood in the office?

We typically place electronic orders to local draw sites (e.g., Quest/Labcorp). You’ll go to a nearby location; results return to us and your portal.

Can you order labs from a video visit?

Often yes. Many lab and imaging orders can begin via telemedicine when appropriate; we’ll advise case‑by‑case.

How will I get my results?

You’ll receive a message and see results in the Patient Portal, along with your plan and follow‑up timing.

Which specialists do you refer to?

Based on clinical need and your insurance network — commonly cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, GI, ENT, orthopedics, urology, women’s health, and sleep medicine

Will there be separate bills?

Yes. Your visit with us is billed by Afshar Medical Group; labs/imaging are billed by the facility performing the service. We verify benefits and can provide copay estimates for our visit only.

How long are orders or referrals valid?

Validity varies by test and insurer; if an order expires, we’ll renew it as clinically appropriate.
